I am blessed to be married to my amazing wife, Kati, and we have two amazing sons and a beautiful baby girl. They are the light of my life, and I strive every day to make them proud of me. In my free time, I enjoy boating, going to the beach, watching hockey and football games, hunting, and spending time with my family and my dear friends. To me, there is nothing more relaxing than a day on the boat enjoying the beautiful place that we call home.

I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi, by my parents, Kent and Ruby Higdon. From the time I was a child, my parents instilled in me a very strong work ethic and pushed me in all aspects of my life. From academics and sports to musical instruments such as the violin, my parents always challenged me to try new things. The most important thing they did for me growing up, though, is they taught me to be a compassionate and genuine person. My dad used to always tell me, you can never judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes, so treat everyone with kindness and respect. That is something that I have tried to do throughout my life.
From a young age, I have always loved football, especially college football. My dad played football at Auburn University, and my oldest brother went to the University of Alabama, so there were some interesting Saturdays at my house every fall, to say the least. I didn’t stay in the SEC, but, instead, I decided to attend Harvard University where I also played football for the Crimson. My time at Harvard taught me a great deal about myself and about life in general. At the end of my freshman year in college, a tragic event occurred that would forever change my life – my best friend was killed suddenly in a motorcycle crash. After experiencing the loss of my friend and witnessing the immense grief that his family endured, I decided that I wanted to do something to help people like my friend and his family and to fight for justice for people like them. That is when I decided to become a lawyer.
After graduating from Harvard, I chose to attend Stetson University School of Law, the number one law school for trial advocacy in the country. I was on Stetson’s Law Review, and I also earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Stetson’s School of Business. I worked as a teaching assistant for pretrial practice while in law school, and I began clerking at a prominent law firm in the Tampa area.
After law school, I jumped right into trial practice and began handling employment law and personal injury cases. I tried my first jury trial within my first year of graduating law school in federal court, and I have tried a substantial number of cases to verdict in Florida and Tennessee since that time. I am licensed to practice in Florida and Tennessee in both state and federal courts. I was selected by Super Lawyers in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2024, and I have been recognized as a Million Dollar Advocate and Multi-Million Dollar Advocate.
Achieving the best results for my clients is always my primary goal, but I also want my clients to know that I have their backs and will fight for them. I care deeply about my clients, and I will try my hardest to make sure they know how important they are to me. If you or your loved one ever needs an attorney, I would be honored to help.
